Alabama: Governor Riley Lifts Mandatory Evacuation Order for Baldwin County- Residents May Return

Shelters Closed:

  • Faulkner State Community College 1900 Hwy 31 S. Bay Minette, AL 36507

Anyone needing shelter should contact the American Red Cross Alabama Gulf Coast Chapter at (251) 972-8512.

Mandatory Evacuation Order Lifted:

Alabama Governor Bob Riley has lifted the mandatory evacuation order for all of Baldwin County. It is safe to return to all areas.

ROADS

CLOSED – Bridge on Leahman Road in Summerdale

All other Baldwin County Roads are open.

Residents are urged to use caution as you drive over roads that were flooded and washed out.

Alabama: Baldwin County Road Reopenings

ROAD OPENINGS

The Baldwin County Highway Department has re-opened the following roads:

  • County Road 32 East of Greeno Road
  • County Road 48 at Fish River

Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Baldwin County Highway Department will continue to monitor flood prone areas. In the event further action is needed an immediate notification will be given.

BALDWIN COUNTY FACILITY OPENINGS

ALL Baldwin County Commission facilities, including the Baldwin County Courthouses, will be open on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, during regular operating hours.

All Baldwin County Commission employees should report to work as regularly scheduled on September 2, 2008.

Alabama Governor Bob Riley has issued a Mandatory Evacuation for the following areas in Baldwin County:

  • Fort Morgan Peninsula
  • Plash Island
  • All low lying, surge and flood prone areas in unincorporated Baldwin County
  • All areas south of Fort Morgan Road in the City of Gulf Shores

BALDWIN COUNTY VOLUNTARY EVACUATION

On behalf of the Baldwin County Commission, the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has issued a Voluntary Evacuation for the following areas:

• Fort Morgan Peninsula
• Plash Island
• All low lying, surge and flood prone areas in unincorporated Baldwin County
• All areas south of Fort Morgan Road in the City of Gulf Shores

Alabama- Baldwin County Garbage Collection Update

Fort Morgan Trash to be Collected on Sunday

Due to possible effects of Hurricane Gustav, the Baldwin County Solid Waste Department will collect household garbage for the unincorporated areas of Fort Morgan on Sunday, August 31, 2008.

Fort Morgan Residents should do the following:

  • Place household garbage out for collection by 9:00 a.m., Sunday, August 31, 2008, in sturdy plastic bags. Double bag the garbage if necessary.   DO NOT put your garbage in garbage cans.
  • Garbage cans should be secured similar to patio furniture and other outdoor items that may be blown around by the storm.
