More East Texas Gustav-Related School and Business Closures

The following businesses and institutions will be closed Tuesday.

Beaumont

- All Saints Episcopal School

- Beaumont ISD

- Beaumont VA Outpatient Clinic

- Harmony Science Academy

- Lamar University

- Lamar Institute of Technology

- Region 5 Education Service Center

- Target stores

Hardin County

- All Hardin County school districts will be closed Tuesday. This includes Hardin-Jefferson, Kountze, Lumberton, Silsbee and West Hardin school districts.

- The Big Thicket National Preserve will be closed until further notice. The closure includes all of the preserve’s facilities and all land and water areas within the boundaries of the preserve.

- Region 5 Education Service Center-Silsbee

Texas: Dispelling Evacuation Rumors for Orange, Hardin, and Jefferson Counties

DISPELLING EVACUATION RUMORS

Emergency Management Officials are receiving a high volume of calls about the evacuation for Jefferson, Hardin and Orange Counties.  Apparently someone has spread a false rumor that the Southeast Texas Evacuation Order has been lifted.  That is not true.

The evacuation order remains in place.  Unless the media receives official notification from Southeast Texas Emergency Management, All previous information that has been released is still in effect.

Citizens are asked to visit www.setinfo.org for the latest information.

Texas: Orange County Issues Mandatory Evacuation

August 31, 2008 - 5:26 pm

1. Due to HURRICANE GUSTAV, the County Judge/ Mayors, under Texas law, has issued the
following mandatory evacuation for those who live, work, or are visiting in Orange County
effective 6:00 AM, August 31, 2008.

2. Immediately 211 registries should embark to their destination locations of: Vidor Elementary
School, Hwy 90 and Lamar Student Center, Orange.

3. Orange County area’s should following the recommended evacuation routes:

  • STATE HWY 87 N.
  • FM 105 N. TO HWY 96
  • HWY 62 N. TO HWY 96
